Going his own way, and ignoring all advice, Pinocchio soon falls in with a variety of bad characters, particularly the Fox and the Cat, who scheme to steal the five gold pieces Pinocchio was given for Geppetto.

The Jungle Book is a collection of seven short stories by Rudyard Kipling. Much of the book focuses on Mowgli, a boy who grows up in the jungle.

Mowgli’s Brothers

Shere Khan, the tiger, is pursuing a child barely old enough to walk when the boy is found by a Father and Mother Wolf, who raise him alongside their cubs. The child, Mowgli, becomes a member of the Wolf Pack and is taught the Law of the Jungle by Baloo the bear. Bagheera the panther also looks after him, and one day, ten or eleven years after Mowgli joins the pack, Bagheera tells him that he is in danger. Akela, the leader of the pack and Mowgli’s protector, is becoming old and weak. Many of the younger wolves have fallen under the influence of Shere Khan. To protect himself, Bagheera suggests, Mowgli must steal the Red Flower, fire, from the village nearby.

Mowgli steals the fire, tends it with sticks, and takes his fire-pot to the Council Rock, where the wolves meet. Akela is too weak to lead the wolves, and Shere Khan demands they give Mowgli to him. Mowgli starts a fire and beats Shere Khan with a flaming branch, burning his coat. He leaves the Wolf Pack but vows to return when he has killed Shere Khan and to spread the tiger’s skin over the Council Rock.

Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

The novel begins with a young girl named Alice, who is bored with a book she is reading outside, following a smartly-dressed rabbit down a rabbit hole. She falls a long way until she finds herself in a room full of locked doors. However, she finds a key, but it’s for a door that’s too small for her.

However, there is a bottle labelled ‘DRINK ME’ on a table, so she drinks down its contents and promptly shrinks. But now she’s too small to reach the key on the table! She eats a cake labelled ‘EAT ME’, and she now grows to be too big – much bigger than her usual size. She begins to cry.

After shrinking back to her usual size, Alice starts to swim on the tide of her own tears, meeting a range of other animals including a mouse and a dodo. The latter declares there should be a Caucus-Race: everyone runs around in a circle but nobody wins. When Alice starts to talk about her cat back home, she inadvertently frightens all of the animals away.

The White Rabbit orders Alice to go into the house and find the gloves belonging to a duchess. Alice finds another potion in the house, which makes her grow large again when she drinks it. When animals hurl stones at her, these turn into cakes and she eats them, returning to her normal size.

Alice meets a blue caterpillar sitting on a mushroom and smoking a hookah pipe. The caterpillar tells Alice that one side of the mushroom will make her taller, while the other side will make her shorter. She breaks off two pieces from the mushroom and eats them. Sure enough, one side shrinks her again, while the other side makes me grow into a giant.

Alice sees a fish, working as a footman, delivering an invitation for the Duchess who lives at the house; he hands the letter to a frog who is working as the Duchess’ footman. Alice goes inside the house again. The Cheshire Cat appears in a tree, directing her to the March Hare’s house. He disappears but his grin remains when the rest of him has gone.

Alice attends the Mad Hatter’s tea party, along with the Marsh Hare and Dormouse. They throw lots of riddles at her until she becomes fed up with them and leaves. She finds herself in a garden in which playing cards are busy painting flowers.

Alice meets the King and Queen, the latter of whom orders her to play a game of croquet in which live flamingos are used instead of croquet mallets (and hedgehogs are deployed as balls!).

The Duchess, who owns the Cheshire Cat, turns up just as the Queen is trying to have the Cheshire Cat beheaded. A Gryphon takes Alice to meet the Mock Turtle, who tells Alice he used to be a real turtle and is now sad because he was mocked when young. The Mock Turtle and the Gryphon then dance to the Lobster Quadrille.

The Queen of Hearts demands Alice’s head be removed: ‘Off with her head!’ But when Alice stands up to her, the Queen falls silent. Alice attends a trial at which the Knave of Hearts is accused of stealing the Queen’s tarts. Alice realises she is starting to grow bigger.

She is summoned as a witness at the trial, but she has grown so big now that she accidentally knocks over the jury box containing the animals on the jury.

The Queen accuses Alice of stealing the tarts and once more demands her head. Alice stands up to them, and as the playing cards advance on her, she is wakened from her dream, and finds her sister shaking her: the playing cards have become leaves that have fallen on her. She is back in the real world.

A thrush once built a nest on a weak tree and laid her eggs. And there hatched the thrushlets. When the Fox heard of this, she came to visit them. She sat down and tapped the tree with her tail. The thrust looked out of the nest to see what was the matter. "I will cut down this tree with my tail" -said the Fox - "And I will eat you and your babies." The thrush got frightened, so she started to plead-"Don't cut down my tree, Mother Fox. I will treat you with honey and cake instead of my kids."-thrush said. "Ok, that's a deal" - replied the Fox. So, they went to the market where they saw a little girl and her granny walking with a jar of honey and a basket of cake in their hand. The fox and the thrush planned and decided to steal it. The plan was that the thrush would lie near them and act like her wings were broken. Then the fox will steal the cake and honey as they will sympathetically look at the crow, which will be the perfect time. To execute the plan, the thrush acted like her wings were broken at the roadside. Seeing this, the little girl and her grandma put their cake and honey on the ground and ran to save the thrush. The fox took the correct time, jumped out of the bushes, took the two things, and ran again to the bush.

The thrush saw this and flew near the bush. Everything was settled but a while later, the fox again came near the tree tapping on it. The thrush again asked what was his need. "You gave me food to eat, now I am thirsty. Otherwise, I shall do as said before." They both now went to the village and saw a countryman with a barrel of beer with him."That's all I need."-said the fox. The thrush disturbed and made the man run when the Fox ran with the barrel of beer and filled his thirst. Again Everything was settled but again after some time, the fox came near the tree saying the same thing as before. Now he wanted the thrush to make him laugh. The thrush took him to a house where an old woman was milking her cow. The thrush flew the shoulder of the old woman. An old man said to help her be free of thrush and thumbed on it hardly. But the thrush didn't get hurt instead the old woman fell and the whole pail of milk went waste. Seeing this the fox was at the peak of laughing. Again the fox said to the thrush that now he should be frightened with the same demand. The thrush became angry and told the fox to close his eyes and took him to a halt of gangsters and when he opened his eyes she ran for her life hearing the bangs and cut her tail of anger.
