My name is Fabiola Riquelme and I am an English teacher at secondary school level in a technical school and two night schools. The purpose of this Padlet is to both recover ideas to be a better teacher and to express my feelings after taking this course. The portfolio was built after browsing through the 3 classes. As a teacher I intend to improve my practice every year, this was my first reason to take the course.

Some teachers, me included, have been worrying a lot about the fact of monitoring last year students' performance in combination with this year work, highly aware of the fact that this year we must take care of both situations. This concern has kept on going all the way through till now, november 2021. and it still amazes me finding teacher who at the moment are still surprised that they MUST carry out this monitoring and plan and work on the basis of it. Not only does it amaze me that they seem not to know that they must do this but also it bothers me a lot because it seems as if they hadn't cared at all about students and about their own work. How come they didn't know and they get surprised?

As regards question what likely education scenarios we foresee in our Province, I'm between two ideas. On the one hand, I know things will not be the same as before, yet on the other hand I do hope they would. The pandemic has shown us many things, among others, that students do not have the neccesary resources (of many kinds) to continue with their education outside the classroom. So I really want to go back to the old scenario, just as regards virtual/non-virtual presence.

I can see that the point is, in many of the tasks asked in this course, making us fit into our students' shoes and try to imagine how they feel working with traditional/innovative resources. Yet....something always comes to my mind when thinking about technology and learning: what about students who do not have internet connection, when many resources (like Blendspace) are not free? and if they do not have a technological device of their own and, when possible, they can work with their parents' telephones? and if they live in disconnected and distant areas? Yes, schools are supposed to do their best to provide students with what they need, and when the school itself does not have the resources? Technology is a great tool , yet it is so only for people with means, and that is very unfair.

When a student seems not to care, to be bored, to be angry apply positive strategies that can make him see the positive things he can do. Do not focus on the negative part of what he does or shows, concentrate and stimulate the bright side. So, if a student is too lazy or angry to work, remark what he can do, listen to what he has to say and always highlight the good things he has and shows. Negative reinforcement pay less than positive remarks.
