The word “rotted” gives you a certain image of the smell in the air that surrounds anything that rots. It reminds me of when you pass by roadkill with the windows down in your car.

This is an example of diction. It is used many other places other than page 27, and is most often used when referring to Okonkwo. This is a good choice of word because he likes to rely on himself and doesn't want the opinions, advice, or assistance of others. It describes the way Okonkwo can sometimes be prideful because of his desires to not be known as lazy, but as hardworking and independent. This quote uses imagery and it helped me envision what he would sound like when he is angry. I could hear that Okonkwo would have a stammer or stutter when he gets mad. It also showed how impatient Okonkwo is.
