For the first week, I got to know the usrah members first. We shared stories about ourselves, such as our place of residence,hobbies,co-curricular experiences in secondary school and courses.

Then,we proceed to the main topic for the first week of usrah, Adab in seeking knowledge and Al-Qur‘an as the book of guidance.

There are many adab in seeking knowledge that we mentioned in that usrah.Among them are ;

Correcting the intention (niyyah) in the heart

This ensures that our pursuit is guided by sincerity and purpose. When our intention is pure, focused on gaining knowledge to benefit ourselves, others, and to fulfill a greater purpose, such as serving the community or seeking truth, our learning becomes more meaningful. It prevents us from seeking knowledge for selfish reasons, like gaining recognition or power. Instead, it aligns our efforts with a higher purpose, leading to greater satisfaction and the ability to use knowledge responsibly and ethically.

Do not speak ill of the teacher

This reflects respect and gratitude for the person who imparts knowledge. Teachers play a significant role in shaping our understanding and guiding our intellectual growth. When we speak negatively about a teacher, it not only disrespects them but also undermines the learning environment. Criticism should be constructive and addressed respectfully if there are genuine concerns. Upholding respect for teachers fosters a positive atmosphere where learning can thrive, and it also models good behavior for others, emphasizing the importance of respect in all relationships.

Humility in seeking knowledge

This opens the mind to new ideas and fosters a deeper understanding. When we approach learning with humility, we acknowledge that there is always more to learn, regardless of how much we already know. This mindset encourages us to listen more attentively, ask questions without fear, and accept constructive feedback. Humility also helps us appreciate the contributions of others, recognizing that knowledge is often a collective effort. It prevents arrogance, which can close us off from learning, and instead promotes continuous growth and improvement. Ultimately, humility in learning leads to wisdom, as it allows us to fully engage with the process of gaining knowledge and applying it meaningfully.

We also shared about the importance of discipline in seeking knowledge.

Discipline in seeking knowledge is crucial because it helps maintain focus, consistency, and progress in learning. With discipline, we can set aside regular time for study, stay organized, and persevere even when faced with challenges. It ensures that our efforts are sustained over time, leading to a deeper understanding and mastery of the subjects we pursue. Without discipline, it’s easy to become distracted or discouraged, which can hinder our growth and achievement in learning.

Last topic 👇🏻

The Al-Qur’an is considered as a book of guidance because it provides comprehensive instructions on how to live a righteous and fulfilling life. It offers spiritual, ethical, and practical guidance that helps individuals navigate their personal and social lives. Through its verses, the Quran addresses various aspects of human existence, including moral conduct, justice, and compassion. It serves as a source of wisdom and direction, encouraging believers to act with integrity, seek knowledge, and foster a strong relationship with God. The Quran’s teachings are meant to guide individuals towards making sound decisions, developing good character, and creating a harmonious society. Its timeless principles continue to be relevant and provide clarity and inspiration for millions of people around the world.

Suggestion to improve :

may include some fun games.

This week, we covered the five pillars of Islam, which are the foundation of a Muslim’s practice. First is the Shahada (declaration of faith), where we testify that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad (PBUH) is His messenger. Then there’s Salah (prayer), performed five times a day. Zakat (charity) is giving a portion of our wealth to those in need. Sawm (fasting) during Ramadan is the fourth pillar, and finally, Hajj (pilgrimage) to Mecca is required once in a lifetime for those who can afford it.

We also touched on Hadith Jibril, which is one of the most significant hadiths in Islam because it beautifully summarizes the core elements of the religion. In this hadith, the angel Jibril (Gabriel), appearing in the form of a man, asks the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) a series of questions about Islam, Iman (faith), and Ihsan (spiritual excellence).

The Prophet's responses outline:

1. Islam as the five pillars: Shahada (faith), Salah (prayer), Zakat (charity), Sawm (fasting), and Hajj (pilgrimage).

2. Iman as belief in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Day of Judgment, and divine destiny (Qada and Qadar).

3. Ihsan, described as worshipping Allah as if you see Him, knowing He always sees you.

The significance of this hadith is that it encapsulates the essence of Islamic belief and practice, covering the outward actions (Islam), inner beliefs (Iman), and the highest level of spiritual devotion (Ihsan). It also teaches the importance of living with sincerity, accountability, and excellence in all aspects of life.

We also exchanged heartfelt words during our first meeting through letters, and it was a lot of fun because it helped strengthen the good relationship between us.

Suggestion to improve :

No suggestion

For this week,we went over the three main categories of Tawhid in Islam, which focus on the oneness of Allah. First, there’s Tawhid al-Rububiyyah, which is all about recognizing that Allah is the sole creator and ruler of everything in the universe. Then we talked about Tawhid al-Uluhiyyah, which emphasizes that Allah alone deserves our worship, and no one else should be associated with Him in acts of devotion. Lastly, we covered Tawhid al-Asma wa Sifat, which is about affirming Allah’s unique names and attributes without comparing Him to anything or anyone else. Together, these categories help us understand the core of Islamic monotheism and how we should relate to Allah.

We also covered three important pillars of faith in Islam which is belief in Allah, the angels (Malaikat), and the revealed books (Kitab). Belief in Allah means recognizing Him as the one true God, the Creator and Sustainer of everything. Belief in Malaikat is about knowing that angels exist and carry out Allah’s commands, like delivering messages and recording our deeds. Lastly, belief in the Kitab refers to the divine books Allah revealed to guide humanity, like the Quran, Torah, and Bible. These beliefs help shape a Muslim’s understanding of their connection with Allah and the unseen world.

Suggestion to improve :

I have no suggestion because it was fun. There were 2 online cute quizzes 🎀

This week, we also discussed the other three pillars of faith in Islam: belief in the prophets (Rasul), the Hereafter, and Qada and Qadar (divine destiny). Belief in the Rasul means recognizing all of the prophets Allah sent to guide humanity, with Muhammad (PBUH) as the final prophet.

Belief in the Hereafter is about knowing that there will be a Day of Judgment where everyone will be held accountable for their actions and rewarded or punished accordingly.

Lastly, Qada and Qadar is the belief that everything, good or bad, happens according to Allah’s plan and wisdom. These pillars help guide how Muslims view life, accountability, and trust in Allah’s will. The concept of Qada and Qadar in Islam revolves around divine destiny and includes four key components:

1. Knowledge of Allah: Allah has complete and perfect knowledge of everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen. This includes all events, actions, and choices.

2. Writing: It is believed that Allah has recorded everything that will occur in a divine book known as the "Preserved Tablet" (al-Lauh al-Mahfuz).

3. Will of Allah: Allah's will governs all things; everything occurs according to His divine plan. This means that nothing happens without His permission.

4. Creation: Allah is the sole creator of everything in existence. All events and actions are ultimately created by Him, emphasizing His sovereignty and control over the universe.

Together, these components underscore the belief that while humans have free will, everything ultimately happens according to Allah’s knowledge and will.

Suggestion to improve :

No suggestion

Is islam inherently violent?

Definitel not. This is because Islam focuses and emphasizes justice for all people.

Surah Al-Anfal 8:61 also encourages peace when the enemy seeks peace, reflecting Islam's commitment to peaceful coexistence.

Justice is a central value in Islam, with Muslims commanded to act fairly and uphold justice in all situations.

Moreover,Islam teaches not to harm others, even in conflict, promoting peace and restraint

Furthermore,Islam encourages charity (zakat) and social justice, emphasizing helping those in need and contributing to society.

In addition, mainstream Islamic scholars and organizations consistently condemn violence and extremism.

And lastly, the other reason is Islam promotes strong community bonds, fostering peaceful relations and mutual respect among diverse groups.

This week, we are talking about the benefits of praying with full focus and devotion (khushu'). A prayer performed with khushu' is not just an obligation but also brings many good qualities that help a person become better. Some of the key values found in such prayer are obedience, effort (jihad), humility, self-reflection (muhasabah), and self-control (iffah).

Obedience is an important part of prayer because when a person prays with full attention, they are showing their commitment to following Allah’s commands. By praying regularly and sincerely, they strengthen their relationship with Allah and prove their dedication to worship.

Effort (jihad) in this case does not mean fighting but rather struggling to stay focused in prayer, avoiding distractions, and trying to improve its quality. Many people find it hard to concentrate in prayer, but with practice and patience, they can gradually pray with more focus and meaning.

Humility (tawaduk) is another great value that comes from khushu'. A person who prays with sincerity realizes that they are small and weak before Allah. This makes them more humble in daily life, preventing arrogance and pride because they understand that everything they have is given by Allah.

Self-reflection (muhasabah) is also developed through prayer. When bowing (ruku') and prostrating (sujud), a person gets a chance to think about their mistakes, seek forgiveness, and try to improve themselves. By doing this regularly, they become more aware of their actions and strive to be a better person.

Lastly, khushu' in prayer teaches self-control (iffah), which helps a person stay away from bad habits and sinful actions. Someone who prays with full focus will be more careful with their words, actions, and behavior, ensuring that they live a pure and righteous life.

In conclusion, praying with khushu' is not just about completing a duty, but it also helps build good character, discipline, and inner peace. That is why everyone should try to improve their focus in prayer to gain all the rewards and benefits that come with it.

Suggestion to improve:

No suggestion

This week, we talked about the virtues found in fasting.Fasting is not just about refraining from eating and drinking, but it also brings many spiritual and physical benefits. It is not only an obligation in Islam, but also a way to train the soul, teaching patience, responsibility, and improving one's relationship with Allah.

One of the key benefits of fasting is purifying the soul and heart. During fasting, a person tries to avoid actions that can harm the purity of the heart, such as anger, gossip, and other sins. Fasting teaches us to be more patient, as it is not just about controlling hunger and thirst, but also controlling our desires, emotions, and actions. It also helps us get closer to Allah, as fasting is a way to show sincere obedience and dedication to following His commands.

In addition, fasting helps us to appreciate the blessings we have, such as food and drink, which we often take for granted. By fasting, we learn to be more grateful for what Allah provides. Fasting also gives the body a chance to cleanse itself, as it allows the body to rest and remove toxins.

Fasting also brings people closer together. During fasting, people feel more connected to each other, especially during the time of breaking fast, which is a time for sharing and strengthening relationships. Moreover, fasting helps us practice self-discipline in our daily lives because it teaches us to manage our time, energy, and resources more wisely.

Overall, fasting is an act of worship that has many benefits, not only for our spiritual life but also for our physical and social well-being. Therefore, it is important for everyone to understand and value the lessons found in fasting, not just as a religious duty, but as a way to improve ourselves and strengthen our faith.

Suggestion to improve:

No suggestion

My hope is that I can deepen my understanding of religion, strengthen my relationship with Allah, and improve myself through beneficial learning and discussions. I also hope to apply the knowledge gained in daily life and become more closer to my usrah friends in building stronger Islamic sisterhood even not in a same usrah group anymore in future.
