Bay of Bengal

If the Himalayan Mountains did not exist, the population density map of the region surrounding the Bay of Bengal would likely show a higher concentration of people residing in the areas that are currently less populated due to the challenging terrain of the Himalayas. For example, the densely populated Gangetic Plain, which stretches from the Himalayas to the Bay of Bengal, would likely see an even larger population influx as people would have easier access to the region without having to navigate through the mountainous barriers. Additionally, the coastal areas along the Bay of Bengal may also see an increase in population density as transportation and trade would be more accessible without the mountains obstructing travel.

This scenario relates to the theme of physical geography, specifically how landforms and natural barriers can impact human society and settlement patterns. The presence of the Himalayan Mountains not only affects the population distribution in the region but also influences economic activities, transportation routes, and cultural interactions. The absence of the mountains would significantly alter the dynamics of the area, leading to potential shifts in population density and human interactions in the region surrounding the Bay of Bengal.
