The da Vinci robotic systems turns complex surgeries into minimally invasive procedures. Robotic surgery helps surgeons be precise during procedures. The robot consists of multiple small arms that are able to get into small areas of the body. The arms go into the body through small cuts. The surgeon will control the robot at a computer. The patient will be under general anesthesia. Can be used for numerous types of surgeries such has cardiac, gastrointestinal, head and neck, cancer, and urology.

Opinion

I think robotic surgery is great. It provides far less complications for the patient. It is much less invasive while still fixing the patients concern. I had my appendix removed via robotic surgery. It gave me quicker recovery time and little to no scaring. We want to provide the best care to our patients. I believe robotic surgery is providing the best care to our patients because we are fixing their issue via surgery but we are doing it in a way that will cause them less risk for infection, pain, and allow them to recover faster. No one wants surgery, but at least robotic surgery allows the patient to get it over with sooner. But don't just take my opinion on robot surgery, listen to patient review. According to a study done by E. Long and F. Few "almost all patients (99%) were pleased with the overall care that they received and 91% would recommend robotic-assisted surgery as a modality" (Long, E., Few, F., 2018).
