Devotion in one's country is a personal choice and sadly the Rizal law has not been completely effective in my own opinion. There could be many college students who stand up for their country but that does not necessarily mean that they know the deep meaning of what Rizal has done for our country. I think that the intention to awaken the sense of patriotism and nationalism in every college student or Filipino youth is not necessarily effective for all. I think students now a days forget the sacrifices of Rizal and how important his cause was. Some college students even question the relevance of the subject in their courses and I am guilty of it. I admire Jose Rizal because of his intelligence and bravery and I hope his message will be much more impactful to all Filipinos, especially the youth. I am hoping that at the end of this semester I will be able to understand deeply the importance of the Rizal law.

 It is remarkably effective and paramount among college students because it helps us to be more lawful and ethical. I believe Rizal Law is also mnemonic to help us recollect the sense of Filipino nationalism. It also encourages us to nurture our sense of unity.

It is quite disappointing that the law has not shown full effectivity. Among thousands of Filipino including Rizal has sacrificed themselves in order to fight for our country's freedom. As present citizens of the country Filipinos must preserve what they have done. But people nowadays have embraced culture of other countries and slowly forgotten the sacrifice of freedom. Filipinos now have already been a slave to other country's culture and started to possess it.

This law helped me in knowing the life of Rizal and his works. It made me understand why he criticize the Spaniards in his books. Because of this, it made me realize as a college student that as early as now I should put in mind that after I finish my degree I should serve my country FIRST before deciding to work outside our country. In my own opinion, patriotism is not only about staying in our country for the rest of my life, it is about being proud of your nationality and making other nationality see the worth and beauty of our country by educating them or talking to them about our cultures and country, sharing and letting them taste our Filipino foods and inviting them to our country to see its beauty.

In our generation, young people tend to forget what Rizal did for our country, this incorporates myself as well. In terms of patriotism, new generations aren't that devoted to maintain nationalism. Mostly, we are really fond of our colonial mentality which needs to be change. Hopefully, at the end of the semester, I'll be able to find the effectiveness and importance of this law that could change my viewpoint towards this.
