Halloween hasn’t really changed too much since the 1930’s. This is one way it hasn’t. People gave treats to kids so they wouldn’t make a lot of trouble. The passage says,” Kids would cause mischief in neighborhoods, knocking over mailboxes, damaging people’s homes, and even tipping over cows! In some cities, homeowners started bribing kids with all sorts of treats so they would leave their houses alone.” People today give treats out, too. One tradition that has not changed is children dressing up a as different things going around door-to-door asking people for candy, that started in the 1960s. Before in the late 1930s kids pranked their neighborhood by knocking down mailboxes, damaging peoples homes etc so people started bribing the children to stop with candy and that is how it became known in the 1960s and people just started giving kids candy. This is one tradition that has not changed since the 1960s.
