Their goal was to create the resume that they want to have by the end of college. This forced students to think about different internships and organizations that they want to join throughout their college career. I think this activity was a hit because it not only hit a learning phase but also taught the students how to write a professional resume.

This assignment was super helpful for students because they were able to have real conversations with someone who has had multiple years of experience in college. I think it also helped them learn how other students have been "delivering" throughout the college careers.

In this assignment students were able to pick a dream job and discuss the pathways they need to take to achieve this dream. I think it was inspirational for the students, and me of course, to see what others want to do after graduation and it made me want to push myself more in my own professional career! They also came up with skills that they want to learn that will help them achieve their career goals.

For example, one questions was " Do you see yourself traveling a lot for work?". Questions like this helped lead the students to think about their dream careers and if it fits with their answers.

They gave us important dates in their lives and told us about the events that led them to UC. I think it's more important that the students interact and connect with each other because the connections that they make in these freshman classes can really help and support them throughout the rest of their college careers.

I believe that appreciative mentorship and my position as a Peer Instructor mean being there for students as a friend who has been in the same position as them. I've been able to provide my own personal experience to my students this year to help them adapt to their first year at college.

They want to get stuff done and activities that don't directly have a visible impact on their academics/academic careers (such as ones that relate to mental health) tend to be pushed to the side. So, I think it's important to tie in our learning goals such as our phases, with activities that students think are important. You'll see a reoccurring theme about how we tied in one of the phases with a tangible skill, such as writing a resume.

I have had discussions about this with others, but I always struggled with communicating and discussing other's issues or concerns. I feel that this position has helped me gain the tools to better communicate and empathize with others. I can use these communication skills in my future career because people don't usually go to an attorney when they are having a good day, I'll have to sit and talk to people during difficult situations.
