The Mayans were famous for their architecture. The Mayans actually imitated their land to look like the others. Mostly Olmek gave the Mayans ideas for their cities.Their cities had beautiful, 3 dimensional stone carvings of their Gods. The Mayans had about 160 different gods. They were know as polytheistic, which means to worship more than one god. The Aztecs believed that the gods controlled everything from good crops to floods and earthquakes. Speaking of crops, the Mayans were pretty big on agriculture. Their city, Olmek, was almost based on agriculture. Something they did to help their crops is to burn all the dead crops, then plant knew ones. Anyway, the Mayan class structures worked like this. The ruler was on top. Below the ruler was the priest and nobles. The nobles were almost like Mayan warriors in a way. Underneath the priests and nobles were the merchants. Below the merchants were the peasants. Then lastly, you have the slaves. Slave were also known as the most hardworking class in the structure.

Inca was a city that built itself through imitation. They usually imitate other ideas to make their own. Inca had about 1,500 people in their civilization. Their class structure was formed as the ruler on top. Nobles were somewhere in the middle, and commoners were on the bottom. Families were called clans more than a, well, family. Each clan had their own land for their livestock and other needs. The mother took care of their babies, cooked, and provided for their family/clan. The father would take care of the livestock. Moving on to religion. Religion was very important to the Incas. They mostly had gods based on nature. They had a god of weather, a god of the earth, and a god of the sea. Although their most important was their sun god. Now here's some facts about the Incas. Nobles were allowed to have as many wives as they wanted as long as they could afford it. Commoners who were full blooded Incan, held a higher status than normal commoners.

The Aztec civilization is located in central Mexico. Their population reached from 200,000- 300,000. The Aztecs took place in around the 1400's. Their capital was a place called Tenochtitlan (read about it in the text box labeled "Tenochtitlan"). The Aztecs were divided in five social classes, the ruler was on top. Priests, Military leaders, and government officials were second. Third were commoners. Underneath commoners was peasants. Last were the slaves. The Aztecs believed in many gods as well. They performed blood rituals and/or sacrifices for their gods. For themselves, the Aztecs practiced trade and, for fun, they would play a game called tlachtli.

Tenochtitlan is located in the Aztec civilization. It was actually a small island called a "chinampa". The Aztecs made Tenochtitlan cover about five square miles. Tenochtitlan was so wide that it blended into one of their chinampas, Tlatelolco. So, let's talk about life in Tenochtitlan. Religion, they believed that their gods controlled the weather and crops. They also thought that a way to please their gods was to perform blood rituals and/or sacrifices. Now let's talk about the actual people. So in the 1400's the ruler and family was the top of the class structure, commoners were somewhere in the middle, and slaves were on the bottom. In the commoner status, men could become warriors and women could become matchmakers. The matchmaker's job is to pair a couple so they get married and have children. The people that have been chosen do have free will to decline the offer, but they still have to get married, just not with each other. The men would usually get married at around 20 years old and the women would usually get married at 16 years old. If the couple gets kids, then the father would be the man of the house. The women would take care of the babies, the livestock, and the garden. The father would make sure the child knows how to hunt. The father would make sure the child knows how to cook and clean.
