The best way to improve safety and outcomes is to recognize processes that need improvement and are dangerous to an individual or a group of individuals. 
The primary way to identify these dangerous processes is through data collection from incident reporting. 
With informatics these reports can be transcribed into useful data that can assist in improving patient safety.
As informatics progresses this system of data analysis will and has become faster and more efficient, providing the most relevant information.
The most common reportable event in a health setting is an error in medication administration. 
With todays advancements in health care using informatics and technology patient safety is increasing and the future is bright.
