The environmental impacts on fast fashion is very harsh against the earth. This is because The amount of natural resources they use and how much pollution they put into the earth for shipping. You see, in order to make these cheap clothing there is an order of the way they are made. The fast fashion industry is the second largest consumer for water, in order to make one cotton shirt you need 70 gallons of water. By using this much water, a lot of it goes to waste. And it gets worse. To produce one regular pair of jeans, they use 2,000 gallons of water. With all the resources they are using, the amount of waste that goes into the earth annually is 92 million tonnes. This builds up waste lands, and it can put more plastic into the ocean. The fast fashion industry is bad for both the environment and humans.

As Americans go to press or use their mouse to click order, they never realize the human impacts that they are impacting. Millions of people working long hours, physically draining themselves and never getting a break. This is called fast fashion. Exploited labor, this affected humans because factories like sweatshops today can kill or injure most of their workers. In 2013 one of the fast fashion factories called Rana Plaza factory in Bangladesh collapsed and killed almost all of their workers. It collapsed Because they were over-populating the factory so they could have more workers. more workers means more clothing in designers' eyes.

workers are constantly sewing and working. That can affect their physical health. They don't have any time to go to the doctors and get checkups.This is because the working conditions are so bad that a worker can easily cut their hand or get hand cramps. Most working days tend to last 14-16 hours depending on the day. But when there is a big fashion trend or during peak season the latest they work is 2-3 am depending on the place. So being able to fit in a doctor's checkup in the little time they have can be very hard. This can also affect their mental health since they are constantly working. Also a worker is faced with wage theft, long hours and gender based harassment. Especially the gender based harassment can really affect them when the harassment can go as long as multiple months, or their whole career.

Their pay is very little, they barely make anything considering the amount of work they do. They get paid 2-4$ a day, stated a reporter from an article from the clean clothes campaign.

How to solve Fast fashion

We can Solve this problem by putting a limit (or put a tariff on the country it's mostly getting imported from.) on the amount of fast fashion going into the United states. We could do this because the clothing items are getting imported from other countries. We can't do a lot about fast fashion in different countries, but we can definitely change something in the United states. People could also spend less or stop spending money at fast fashion stores. By doing these things it could help climate change for the better. 10% of climate change is because of fast fashion.

Will i change my ways?

Me personally will change my behavior on spending in fast fashion, i never used it until recently so it will be easy for me to change. But most people have been using these fast fashion clothes for a while so it will be difficult for them to change. But i will definitely be changing my ways.

working conditions website

This website is what i used for to write about the working conditions. The working conditions are extremely dangerous for humans to be working in everyday. This is because most of the items they use to make these clothing are usually not the nicest. So they tend to be not the safest things for people to be using. People can accidentally cut themselves... but they cant bandage the wounds up. Or they could be in risk of losing their job.
