Whilst this may not be a direct result of the postdoc bridging scheme, I do feel that being on the scheme is making me consider all ways I can make myself more attractive to the NIHR and one of these is to become involved in as many other activities as possible.

We have been approached to write a review for Clin Exp Rheumatology as it becomes the home journal of the iMyoS society for an inaugural issue on myositis. Our topic will be juvenile dermatomyositis. We would love you in particular to write a section on psychosocial aspects / HRQoL within the context of long-term outcome, and to also ensure we have an appropriate MDT approach to other sections. 
I attach our current proposal / review outline. Any suggestions for change welcome. The word limit is apparently 4000 words – so each section will be relatively short.

You will need to go to 'My Reports' and select the 'Award Acceptance' report by clicking ‘Edit’, and following the online instructions. The sooner this form is completed, the sooner we are able to prepare a contract for your award. Please note, we will be organising contracts in date order according to start date. It can take up to two months to get a contract agreed and finalised.  The uptake of the award and the associated funding is subject to the following terms: 1.    Awards are granted to individuals on the condition that any component activity requiring ethical approval from the Research Ethics Committee (REC) is sought. Some aspects of your research may not be able to commence prior to obtaining the necessary approval, therefore you should immediately begin this process if you have not done so already. If your local Research and Development office is unsure whether your activities require REC approval, please contact the HRA as soon as possible using the link/email address provided below:  http://www.hra.nhs.uk/about-the-hra/our-committees/research-ethics-committees-rec s/ Email: HRA.Queries@nhs.net If other ethical approvals (e.g. University specific ethical approval) is also required, please begin the process of obtaining these by contacting the appropriate departments and/or individuals.  Further details of NIHR's requirements in terms of ethical approvals can be found within the online Award Acceptance form. 2.    Individuals will be required to reconfirm the details of funding requested prior to contract documents being completed, especially if the original finance forms are found to have errors or items that do not fit with the funding structure of this scheme. NIHR Academy reserves the right to reject any costs that it considers unreasonable or not fully justified. Any costs identified as NHS Service Support Costs will need to be met by local clinical research networks and will not be funded by this scheme. (Further details about Local Clinical Research Network (LCRN) contacts are available at https://local.nihr.ac.uk/lcrn/).  A summary of the anticipated steps in the contracting process is as follows: 1.    The Award Acceptance Form is completed by the awardee and returned to the NIHR Academy. 2.    NIHR Academy reviews the application and finance forms. 3.    NIHR Academy draws up a draft contract, including payment profile, and sends electronic copy to awardee and appropriate authority within the host organisation for checking and approval. 4.    Once contract details are agreed, NIHR Academy will send the contract via DocuSign to the authorising signatory of the Host Organisation. The contractors authorising signatory is required to sign the contract via DocuSign, after which the contract is automatically sent on to the funder’s authorising signatory at the Department of Health and Social Care. A fully executed copy will be automatically sent to the Host Organisation via DocuSign once completed. 5.    NIHR Academy uploads the contract on to the publicly available DHSC website - it is a Department of Health and Social Care requirement that contracts are made publically available due to procurement transparency regulations. This came totally out of the blue. I had joined the inaugural meeting with 40 other individuals, but did not expect them to approach ME as someone they would want to join them! Mine was more on what I have learnt and what opportunities I have had, whereas others were more focused on their plans for the future. This last year has brought many personal challenges for me: losing both my parents, my auntie and my father-in-law, all within 6 months of each other and to work in such a crazy clinical role in a global pandemic, but this program has been a positive intervention: in peer support, distraction and an increase in confidence. I have really enjoyed the opportunity to have time to reflect, learn and consider the future over the course of the last year. I have also made some good friends and realise that the many challenges I may feel, are all often shared challenges.
