The advisory board service a dual purpose that of a guidance body and that of an adviser. Current curriculum is evaluated against the requirements of industry and any new developments in the field is established. The main focus is to maintain the level of quality at the university. Through engagements with them new members and organisations was established. Using he TUT policy and an questionnaire members where identified that are suitable for the advisory board. Once it was established that members meet the requirements they where invited to become part of the advisory board.
Members of the board are divided into four groups namely:
  • Industry representatives
  • Academics from other institutions
  • industry and government bodies
  • TUT support staff (DQP, Curriculum development, employbility office etc.) 
As indicated above this is done using the TUT policy.

  • Prof Makihta (HOD UNISA Department Marketing)
  • Ms L Ramakgopa (TUT)
  • Mr A Sabolgela (TUT employbility officer)

The above group is the core group that is responsible for the main functions of the advisory board

March 2018:
E-mails are send to all current members and they are requested to name possible new members
April & May 2018:
Follow-up emails is send and core team meet to discuss planning of the advisory board
In this period the invitations is send out and I contact all new members for industry visits or telephone calls
June 2018:
Follow up e-mails is send to all the members. I meet with the core team to work through the final arrangements of the meeting.
July 2018:
Myself and my TUT network start arranging the venues, catering, speakers etc.
August 2018:
Annually General Meeting is held where all the people in the network interact and provide feedback on our curriculum and other developments.
October 2018:
The TUT work group get together to prepare he minutes of the meeting and prepare feedback to the HOD and Dean.
November & December 2018:
Changes to the modules for 2019 was planned to keep abreast with industry needs.
