Bio means life, and diversity means variety. If you put two and two together you get lifevaritey. (Obviously, that doesn’t make sense as an actual word, but you get the point.) 

Biodiversity is the variety of animals and plants found on earth including geographic locations they are found in. AKA, the animal's habitats. 

Biodiversity, is the different kinds of life you will find in different types of habitats, - the variety of animals, plants, fungi, and even microorganisms like bacteria. All of these amazing things make up our planet. 

Biodiversity supports everything we need to survive. Eg; food, clean water, shelter, etc. 

And we probably wouldn’t have things like birdwatching, hiking, camping, and fishing without biodiversity.

Biodiversity provides functioning ecosystems that supply oxygen, clean air and water, pollination of plants, pest control, wastewater treatment and many ecosystem services.

Much of the Earth’s biodiversty is being disturb by human activities. This is resulting in Earth’s biodiversity being destroyed. Some of the threats to biodiversity is; Pollution, climate change, and population.

Because of these threats it has caused rise in the rate of species extinction.

Why should I care about these threats to biodiversity? What is the importance of biodiversity?
