I have to say The Kite Runner is now my favorite book I have read. There is a great amount of thriller, mystery, and love.
What you can learn from The Kite Runner

I think the the biggest thing I learned from reading this book is the idea of facing your past. In this book Amir , the main character, does something during his childhood to his friend and he regrets for the rest of his life. Every time he sees something that reminds him of his friend he feels guilty and it haunts him. To go along with that is the idea of betrayal. Btrayal is active through out the whole book. It starts when Amir betrays his friend. We learn that betrayal is a very serious thing that can effect you for a long time.

1. Forgiveness is a very important thing and the only way to only way to complete forgiveness is when one forgives oneself, and that will only occur when one has truly attempted to atone for the mistakes that one has made.

Evidence: In Rahim Khan's letter to Amir he asks for his frogiveness and say's he knows god will forgive him. He knows that it is God who readily forgives those who ask for forgiveness, but it is people who have a hard time forgiving

2. When someone betrays you they were never really your friend, and it will effect them for the rest of their life.
Evidence: AMir betrays Hassan and was never a true friend.

3. You can not do anything about what you did in the past, you just have to learn from the choices and move on.
Evidence: Amir makes some bad choices during his childhood that haunt him for the rest of his life. He learns many lessons from the situation.

4. It is important to love others in life but in order for that to happen you have to be able to love your self.
Evidence: After Amir betrays his friend he hates himself for many years after and has trouble loving the people around him including his dad. He eventually gets forgiveness and opens up to love others.

5. When a country is in war it greatly effects the people an culture.
Evidence: When Amir was a child living in Kabul they would play outside all day and the streets were filled with there friends and neighbors. When he comes back later in the book Kabul is a very dangerous place. They can't walk around with out risking your life.
