In the first part it shows a reflective message, and in the second part the melody looks like a lullaby.
The lyrics talks about the transition from chilhood innocence to adulthood. The apparent theme is that we can´t repress our emotions and we must learn from our mistakes. There is always the danger of becoming an empty and cold soul who never realizes the power of change that it possesses.

Arcade Fire is a Canadian indie rock band, consisting of husband and wife Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, along with Win's younger brother William Butler, Richard Reed Parry, Tim Kingsbury and Jeremy Gara.
They play guitar, drums, bass guitar, piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass, xylophone, glockenspiel, keyboard, synthesizer, French horn, accordion, harp, mandolin and hurdy-gurdy, and take most of these instruments on tour; the multi-instrumentalist band members switch duties in the shows.
The band's current touring also includes former core member Sarah Neufeld, percussionist Tiwill Duprate and saxophonist Stuart Bogie.
