In the story Charles the author left clues to tell you that Charles is Laurie because to get you ready for the ending. in pg.3 it states "He came home the same way, the front door slamming open" Laurie was not having a good day. Laurie says that Charles was being fresh to the teacher when he was being fresh to his mom and dad. In page 5 it shows "now laurie is a fine helper" Laurie is saying that Charles was the fine helper so he won't get in trouble. Laurie was not the same after the first day bc he couldn't do anything his way for example: he wanted to draw in red but he had to draw in green. Laurie was always saying that Charles got in trouble everyday he came back from school so it's kinda suspicious to think that he hasn't learned his lesson. At the end of the story the teacher told laurie's Mom that Charles was a fake person.

There are clues that the author left in the story for the reader to realize that Charles is Laurie. In the story it states that Laurie walks in the house slamming the door open and spills this baby sisters milk. This shows that Laurie is being rude but also at school there was a child named Charles who was acting the same way.

The author gives many clues to show that Charles is Laurie. For ex. When Laurie starts kindergarten his behaviour changes as he begins to act mean and disrespectful. I know this because in the Text it says " at lunch he spoke insolently to his father. This shows that Charles is Laurie because when Laurie started to show attitude so did a kid at school named Charles who was acting the same way Laurie was at home.

In the story "Charles", Laurie was Charles all along. Throughout the story the author leaves clues such as Laurie's behavior. Laurie seems to act a lot like Charles when he comes home from school. Another clue that leads to the ending is how Laurie never talks about his day. In the story, he always talks about Charles but never his day. On top of all the evidence Laurie is the only helper in the class. However Laurie says "Charles, he gave the crayons around and picked up the books afterward.." That's the clues that i thought stood out to prove Laurie was Charles.

There were many clues in the story which were proving that Laurie was Charles. On page number 3 Laurie got home on the first day, he said “Isn't anybody here?’. That is where his attitude changed. The second piece of text which hinted that he was Charlie was ‘I learned nothing’ and ‘Laurie thought, it was Charles’. The third example was on page number 4, and Laurie said ‘ Hi, Pop, y’old dust mop. These were some pieces of the text which gave hints that Laurie was Charles.

The author that wrote the short story "Charles" left many indications informing the readers that "Charles" the naughty boy in class was in fact was Laurie. Laurie went off to his first day of school and his parents asked Laurie kindly 'How was school today?" and Laurie would always talk about this boy in his class named "Charles" instead of himself. Laurie at home would always share stories about the teacher and Charles for example;"The teacher spanked a boy." "for being fresh" The parents we're pretty shocked. As days went by Laurie would always talk about Charles and the stuff he does at school. Lauri's mother wanted to meet Charles parents one day but when she went to the parent teacher interview the teacher responded with "We don't have a Charles in kindergarten.". As you slowly read the story and understand what's going on you'll find out that Charles was in fact Laurie.

In this short story called "Charles" the author comes up with certain hints in the book about a young boy named Laurie who explained to his parents about a naughty boy named Charles who was disguised as Laurie. The author goes on to indicate on how Laurie explains to his parents on what happened at school and lies to his parents to get of getting into trouble by telling his parents that the boy Charles was being "fresh" in school today and was spanked by the teacher and was sent to sit in the corner. Then lied to his parents for the last time saying that said a bad word and threw chalk across the room. Then sometime later Laurie's mother went to visit the teacher at open house then later discovered that her son Laurie was the misbehaved boy in class that did indeed do these naughty things.

Charles is a boy who is in kindergarten and is the trouble maker of the class. Laurie a boy who goes to the same school kindergarten as Charles, but wait Laurie is Charles! If you are reading this then your probably confused right now. First off, the story began with Laurie it was his first kindergarten when he arrived back home he was mad and he slammed the door he also started yelling. He told his father about a kid name Charles that he got spanked for being fresh meaning being rude to the teacher. In the story, it is saying that Laurie was thinking about what the boy"s name was in the story which was Charles. In that time, he made a name to cover himself up. The next day Laurie came back with another issue about Charles for hitting the teacher. let me skip a bit of the story, in the story his mother came to the PTA meeting and she wanted to meet Charles parents. She asked the teacher "You must have hand full in that Kindergarten, with Charles. The teacher said,"We don't have any Charles in the kindergarten." At that moment, you must realise that Laurie was lying to his parents about this boy Charles because he wasn't even a real person. Charles was Laurie the whole time.
