Tracy says this to Millicent right before she is about to face her final trial before joining the sorority. Millicent continues to say that they will still be friends, but Tracy responds with this. When Tracy says this, she knows that joining the sorority will change Millicent. Millicent says that she will stay friends with Tracy, but the sorority has different ideas. First of all, they will not accept Tracy because she is ‘different’. The sorority wants everyone in it to seem superior and untouchable, and Tracy does not fit the criterion. Beyond that, the sorority has strict restrictions and boundaries that Millicent is not to cross, despite her being able to do those things before. She is not allowed to talk to boys, and she is forced to do what her ‘big sister’ desires her to accomplish. In this quote, Millicent is thinking about Tracy's warning, how Bev is the toughest sister, and how to deal with her. 

This is foreshadowing because Millicent is being skeptical about what the initiation process with Bev is going to be like. Bev did exactly what Millicent was being sarcastic about, with Bev giving unreasonable orders and making Millicent suffer during the times with her. Millicent ends up having to obey Bev's difficult commands, and ends up in a messy relationship with Bev and Herb, as she cannot talk to Herb, and Bev presumably is in love with Herb.
