This source suggests that due to the segregation enforced by the jim crow laws, minorities had a seperate place in the social hierarchy below whites. According to the first part of the source, minorities at the time, such as blacks and Mexicans were classified as being in the same social position as dogs.

Source B shows us that the due to the Jim Crow Laws, African Americans were segregated against. This can be clearly seen with the signs showing how certain races are not allowed in certain areas, and how the drinking fountains of white and "coloured" people are separate.

As seen by the bottom sign, white and coloured Americans were segregated. Also as can be seen in the second sign, they were segregated unfairly, as colored are served in the rear while whites are served up front. This is in opposition to the 14th Amendment where it says they must be "separate but equal".

This source shows signs of designated areas for white and colored. These laws were made by Jim Crow. The Jim Crow Laws influenced the segregation between white and colored individuals. For instance, drinking fountains, rest rooms, and servings were separated due to skin of their color, with white political control being favored.

The Jim Crow Laws included different rules for white and colored individuals. The main reasons for the introduction of the the Jim Crow Laws:

The aim was for white minority to be ahead and reconstruction to take place.

The fear whites had of losing their job to blacks, with the depression-racked 1890s being a risk.

Politicians sided with the white minority group to win votes over the colored by abusing them.

Source B clearly shows that according to social classification at the time Negros and Mexicans along with other ''colored'' were seen as inferior and were segregated from whites. These were due to the Jim Crow Laws, that stated blacks and whites were not to be treated to the same quality and quantity of Amenities.

Source B shows that due to the Jim Crow Laws, white people and African Americans were segregated solely based on their race and skin colour. For example, the sign states that "colored served in rear" and this suggests that they are at the bottom of the social hierarchy and are therefore served in "rear".

The main reasons for the introduction of the Jim Crow laws were the need for white supremacy in "reaction to Reconstruction" as the white Americans needed to ensure they maintained control over the African Americans. White Americans were scared, "whites who feared losing their jobs to blacks." In order for whites to stay powerful they needed to establish a legal way of discriminating against blacks and the Jim Crow Laws were the means of doing so. The Jim Crow Laws were established to allow "any state law passed in the South that established different rules for blacks and whites" to be passed. Meaning the white Americans in power could squash any sort of resistance or growth from Black Americans by simply creating a new discriminatory law.
