It is also deceiving. Many people assume since I am a "pretty white girl" I don't know what it is like to struggle. I grew up in poverty with little to no parental guidance. I grew up in a family of musicians. I assume that all musicians are scarred in some way and suffer from addiction. This bias is surprisingly accurate a lot of the time. My father is an alcoholic and a musician. My brother is also an alcoholic and a musician. I was coming out of a toxic relationship and was at the lowest point in my life. I felt more alone than I had ever felt. I would stay in my house for days on end without eating, barely sleeping, and crying ALOT. My best friend told me about the book. I fell in love with the book. It was a memoir about the author's experiences traveling in Italy and India.  She was coming out of a heart break and wanted to refrain from falling in love. She was on a quest to find herself after a broken relationship. This book brought me out of depression and inspired me to start traveling more.
