Make up the largest part of the biosphere because water covers roughly 75% of Earth's surfaces. These biomes are classified into freshwater biomes and marine biomes. Most aquatic biomes displa vertical stratification. For example, the photic zone includes teh upper layer of water in which there is enough light for photosynthessi to occur, whereas the aphotic zone is characterizd by very low light penetration.
