<title>I have found that clear instructions, expectations and outcomes are required in the beginning to ensure student success throughout the course. Links to outside materials and resources along with contact information are essential as well. </title>

<title>In a fully online course, it is essential to have ice-breaker activities, such as short introductions. However, it is also important to walk away from the same old standard intros and, instead, encourage students to share specific information. For example, in this course two questions were suggested. <title>The &quot;Getting Started Check List&quot; with internal links to relevant parts of the class is a very valuable tool. I have recently started making more use of the internal link when I develop modules.</title>

<title>I have used a video introduction for students to make it more personable. Also I do a video overview of the course to assist the more visual learners. I added an intro icebreaker for the students which some enjoy as well. </title>

<title>I have also found that very clear, articulate instructions are not only helpful, but very much needed. I also like to have another &quot;eye&quot; look at my instructions, especially for projects. Someone that doesn&#39;t know your course content or isn&#39;t aware of the project...does it makes sense to them? are the instructions clear? is it clear whet the expectations are? I also like the use of the getting started checklist as well. One of the things I would like to explore incorporating into my class is the tool that allows students to check &quot;complete&quot; as we do in this class...what a great way to stay organized!</title>
