At LTHT we have launched an induction day specifically for IMGs (in addition to the Trust induction). We highly value our IMG colleagues and want to make you feel welcomed and valued in Leeds. This is a bespoke face to face induction every 3 months. Lunch is provided and is also a great opportunity to meet other IMG's and network.

Induction Week 1

During your first week with us at LTHT we advise that you use the time to orientate yourself to the hospital and local area, and organise your name badge and access cards.

You will be required to attend a Trust induction (you will be informed about a time for this) and complete mandatory training. During this week you should also take the opportunity to have a local induction within your department and commence the suggested e-learning and reading for IMGs on this Padlet.

Below is a checklist to help guide you through tasks which we feel will help you to settle in to life in Leeds and the NHS. It is hoped that this is completed in the first 1-2 weeks.

Induction Framework

Below is a flowchart proposing the supported induction period for doctors that are new to UK Practice. The aim is that this is implemented in every department so that doctors get the opportunity for shadowing and an enhanced supervised period prior to independent on-call work.

Inorder to work at LTHT you will need to complete mandatory training and also do the required training for our clinical systems. Below are the details on how to do the mandatory training.

Re the clinical systems you will need to register with DLS to get a training account. This can be done remotely and the account usually requires 24-48h to be activated. If you use an NHS.net email to register this will be done instantly (recommended). Please note that it is very important that your name exactly matches to that given during your appointment process.

Once you have an account you will need to complete the required training for the systems you need access to (prioritise PPM, eMEDs and ICE). Once completed, your account requires 48h to be updated to give you access privileges.
