Upon finishing the book the previous night, Belle plans on going into town to get a new one. Gaston spies on Belle almost as soon as she enters town. After finally catching up to Bell he exclaims that he wants to marry her only for her beauty and that it is strange and wrong for a girl to read. The photo and the new job title for Jaden challenge the social construct that certain clothes are only for certain genders. Clearly, the many people see "male" and "female" clothes as separate things.
