I believe that I identify best with the "second generation" God, Hermes. Hermes is known to be as the God of travel, trade, diplomacy, persuasion, writings, and most importantly (at least in my case) athletics. I relate to Hermes the most in the aspects of travel, persuasion and athletics. I also found a connection to Hermes because of the image of Hermes below that reminded me of the Goodyear wing-foot logo, to me this logo symbolizes athleticism and speed of an athlete, tying it all back to Hermes. While looking around google and reading different things about Hermes I came across a good motto/phrase that summarizes him: "I'm punctual. I work out. I trick people."

-Santi

I identify most with Hermes, the god of travel, also known as the messenger of the gods. Being able to travel to and explore new places is one of the things I am most grateful about life. I chose this picture because Hermes is traveling above the sea and land with birds that represent freedom and adventure. To me, the god of travel represents an aspect of myself that I hold dear to my heart. Discovering and exploring new and breathtaking places is what I live for. I find harmony, peace, and serenity when I come across amazing views of the ocean, mountains, lakes, and trees.

- Rosel Hermita

My last name is Roman and essentially means messenger God. In addition to that, he parallels some of the abilities of my spirit animal, in that, he can travel between worlds; I used to travel around a lot
(7 different schools by 7th grade). Also I have always been passionate about bout music and dance. In fact, I used to teach hip-hop choreography classes in Los Angeles CA. Hermes is also a patron of poetry, and on occasion, I can bust out flow - and drop bars.

-- Chris

I identify the most with Apollo, he's the sun god and he's associated with prophecy and music. I've been really interested in the Nietzscheian conceptualization of the Apollonian artist, sculpting art from the images of dreams. He's also the god of sunlight, (that being a good imagistic representation of consciousness). Apollo is known for his loyalty to family and friends, and I consider myself to be that too. Plus my name is close enough to Apollo that I figure it fits. Lastly, Apollo is known for his love of music. I'm kind of an elitist about music, I try to find beauty in things I wouldn't normally consider and I'm not afraid to voice my distaste for things that sound bad.

-Paolo

I would say that I identify with the Goddess Artemis the most. What stood out the most to me about her is that she was very independent and confident which made her a fierce warrior and often uncontrollable by other gods and goddess. She is a goddess that should not be messed with. This characteristic is most salient to myself. I feel like I am independent in many ways in which it makes me confident with where I am going in life. I also like how she protects young girls. It correlates to the fact that I WILL become a lawyer superficially in sexual assault and violence cases. Also she spends a lot of her time in nature. I am one to find a safe space outside with nature. It is where I can escape stresses. -Alexia

Reading through the descriptions, I realized I did not particularly care for any of the Greek Gods, but I chose Athena because she is the one who seems the most connected to reason and in turn justice then the majority of the other Gods and Goddess. Athena is the god of wisdom, strategy, warfare and skill. I personally act as an advice giver to all my friends, and have often been told I am very wise for my age. I also am categorized as a "strategic thinker" and tend to plan out any course of action before going through with anything- i've rarely been called spontaneous. Like Athena, I value a woman's right to her body and cherish one's ability to choose what is their personal right course of action. While at times vengeful, Athena seemed the most level headed of the Gods and, and while I am also at times petty, I tend to be level headed most of the time.
-Isis

Leaving him not only without his rightful crown, but practically exiled to the underworld. Destined only to be worshiped by a few edgy cultists. Despite this he's actually a better person than either of his brothers. However, he's continued to get shafted in modern adaptations that always turn him into the Lucifer to Zeus' God. (See Clash of the Titans and Disney's Hercules).

Anyway, I always found his personal trials moving and his encounters with Heracles really intriguing.

Also, he named his fearsome three-headed guard dog "Spot".

I chose Hermes, God of travel, persuasion, and diplomacy. I like traveling but I also see myself as a diplomat of sorts. I am the friend who just wants everyone to get along.

Thomas

Hades

I don’t so much identify with Hades as he is my favorite of the Olympians even though he doesn’t even live on Mount Olympus. One of the reasons I love him is solely because of his three headed dog Cerberus. His backstory is also pretty cool, after helping defeat the titans he got stuck with ruling the underworld through a drawing of lots and has gone mad since. He even knows this and its one of the reasons why he rarely goes to earth so he doesn’t expose his chaos to humans and the other gods. While he technically decides what Humans do in the afterlife, he leaves most of his grunt work to his fates. He is a very altruistic god that brings balance to the human world. He is only harsh when souls try to leave or people try to cheat death.

-Michael Mrizek

Dionysus

I chose Dionysus because he symbolizes full hedonism and the rejection of societal norms and pressures. While I am not a hedonist myself, I believe that the freedom of thought and the inherent equality promoted in his philosophy of "enjoy and let enjoy" is beautiful in its simplicity and important to observe in order to respect the agency of others and promote happiness. -Miriam
