"Indian policy caused the president little political problem because his supporters were mainly from the south and the west. All of them favored the removal of the Indians but it did not go in a peaceful manner. Jackson and other politicians had speeches describing the removal as a friendly thing when in reality they were decreasing by a considerable amount while walking along the Trail of Tears."

The Native Americans were negatively affected by the Jacksonian democracy by the fact that Jackson being a military leader and president, decided to pursue the policy of removing all Indians from their ancestral land. The relocation would make room for more settlers and speculators who made money off the land by sales.

Finally, federal troops came to Georgia to remove the tribes forcibly. As early as 1831, the army began to push the Choctaws off their lands to march to Oklahoma. In 1835, some Cherokee leaders agreed to accept western land and payment in exchange for relocation. With this agreement, the Treaty of New Echota, Jackson had the green light to order Cherokee removal. Other Cherokees, under the leadership of Chief John Ross, resisted until the bitter end.
