I like that you used the RAFT strategy in your lesson by allowing students to pick a character and complete a chart following this framework. It's great that you spent time teaching a mini lesson of exactly what RAFT is and what your expectations are so that you are setting students up for success. The icing on the cake was that you didn't just have students complete this chart and do nothing else with it, you extended the activity by having them use these charts to infer the theme of the story and have them write an essay. Love it!

I really want to read this book now! I think you laid out the book at a good pace and it flowed well. The way you explained the signpost to the students in the lesson was great. The idea is to have the students use post-it notes and then put those posts in the graphic organizer. This way the students are engaged in the book and don't need to have the organizer it can be a quick post-it. I also liked how you broke it down and taught them only a few at a time so the students would get overwhelmed. I also thinkable the hinge activities go so well. it will give the students the whole picture of how things were during that time.
- Brianna

I know it is a little random but I really love how you organized your rubric in terms of points. It had enough variety to help students understand what was expected of them and what they needed to do to get the best possible grade. Your book choice was excellent and due to the time period and the perspective of the main character of your novel, you were able to cover a wide range of topics such as social change, women's rights, and culture of the time.
