Madagascar's DTM is currently in stage 2, made evident by the triangular shape of the graph. The reason for this being the high birth rates and life expectancy reaching just below 70. The steadier drop in population between each cohort is also what places Madagascar in stage 2.

Ireland can be clearly seen in stage 4 of the demographic transition model. With a drop in birth rates in the last few decades and the highest population cohort being 40-49, it's painted clear that Ireland is in stage 4. Which is also made further evident by the countries high life expectancy.

Niger's DTM is currently in the first stage. This can be concluded by the incredibly high amount of births and low life expectancy. The amount of people above the age of 40 is incredibly low with less than two percent of the population belonging in that age cohort. Meanwhile the amount of children being 9 and below make up more than 30% of the population.

1. Spatial Patterns and Interrelationships between the two demographic factors

The trends noticed between Infant mortality rate and total life expectancy among the countries selected depict a contrast between the two. The correlation depicted shows that countries with higher life expectancy are likely to have lower infant mortality rates, and vice versa. This trend can be seen with all of the countries that are selected. Take Japan for instance, when it comes to overall life expectancy, Japan has one of the highest at 85.03 years. Meanwhile, their infant mortality rate is incredibly low, with about 1.82 deaths per 1000. Now when looking at the stark opposite, the trend can still be observed in a country like Benin, their life expectancy is very low, about 62.84 years. However, their infant mortality rate is also very high, reaching 56.54 deaths per 1000 infants. These stark contrasts show an obvious correlation between infant mortality rate and total life expectancy.
