Shylock is the antagonist and a tragic character in William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. He's a Jewish merchant living in a Christian city, who's really greedy, jealous and wants revenge. He is one of the main character in the story because he's the creator of the main plot witch is the bond. You could see Shylock in many ways but the main goal of this character was for him to be a vilain. He's also very important because him not getting what he really wanted (pound of flesh) is the climax of the story.

In the Merchant Of Venice, you could see Shylock asa villain for many reasons.

- Wants a pound of flesh
- Didn't have pity for Antonio
- He cared more about money than Jessica
- He really hates Christian (witch at the time is seen as something that is horrible)
- He thinks that everything is about religions
- After ending up with money, he still wanted more
- If he would of killing Antonio, he would of been the main villain in the story. That isn't the case but his main goal was to
- Just because he's disrespected it doesn't mean that he's the victim. He was the one who cause the trouble in the story.
