Later in the film, the filmmaker counters this idea by relating back to the past, noting how all new ideas are based upon old ideas. Walt Disney did it with his creations and many inventors have done it with their technology. People build upon the ideas and actions of the past. Sampling is a little more direct than just building upon the ideas of another artist, they literally take the creations of that artist and use them directly. I think the line is drawn when someone just steals the work of another artist and claims it as their own. However, if someone chooses to take something another artist created and change it from its original state than I do believe that it is okay. Furthermore, nowadays, everybody is trying so hard to tell you what you can and can't say and how exactly certain things are allowed to be used. While the message of the comic doesn't really match with my way of thinking, I did greatly enjoy the absurdity of the situation that these animated character were put into. In fact, because of the outrageousness of the comic and the hilariousness of some of the facial expressions, the internet took it and memed it like crazy. In the end, similar to the situation with Mickey Mouse, I believe that this comic is fair and should be legally allowed. He is not claiming that his comic is Zootopia. This one is from 2013 and is one of my favorites in relation to the way the music is mashed up. I've watched it so many times that when I listen to the full length songs featured, without thinking about it, I will start to sing the remix version. I greatly enjoy this version and it became much more popular than the original. I wanted to include this one because though it is not necessarily a sampling mashup, it is an example of someone remixing their own creation. They took the old and added to it to create something new. In fact, when you listen to both versions they sound very different and I would not even consider them the same songs. The artist included over 100 different songs in the mashup of 2017. The samples he uses are very short and are always mashed up with another one on top of them. I certainly think that he uses these sample as instruments and that this is 100% it's own creation. Collage artist use a variety of found images mixed with their own style to create their artwork. In this collage an image of the Queen of England is used, however I would never look at this piece and think it is ripping off the photographer who originally took the photo. The photographer who originally took the photo and this artist have very different visions and ideas of what the piece is meant to be and convey.
