Geographers study this geography theme by looking at the characteristics that distinguish one place from another on Earth. These physical and human characteristics can include land forms, water ways, people, climate, languages communication and, transportation. Place have physical and human characteristics that make them what they are. Geography emphasizes the understanding of both of these factors and their integration together. Each place in the world has different characteristics.

Locations are is the beginning of a geographic study. There is two types, relative location and absolute location. Relative location is placed in respect to other locations. Absolute locations pinpoint themselves on earth. An example of relative location would be saying Kansas is located between Missouri and Colorado. An example of absolute location is Kansas is located 39.0119º N, 98.4842º W. This is significant to geography because without either of these, we wouldn't be able to find the location we are trying to go too.

Source:
http://maps.unomaha.edu/workshops/career/fivethemes.html

Human-Environment Interactions involves three distinct aspects dependency, adaptation, and modification. Humans depend on nature for living. In India farmers wait for monsoons in order to get a good growth for their rain-fed crops. If the monsoons don't come then their crops wont be as good as they could have been. People change they way they plant their crops in order to get better crops. humans adapt to the way their crops grow. If there crop season wasn't good they would have to ration out the food.

Forest, Wildlife and climate can identify region as well. Regions large or small are basic units of geography. Geographers also use regions to study environments that no longer exist. Regions all the time are being destroyed and created due to plate tectonics or the movement of the earths crust.
The united states are divided into 16 regions. Funticon
