         <description><![CDATA[<div>Geoffrey first appeared in the records in 1357 as a member of householder in Elizabeth. 1359 Chaucer was a member of Edward 3’s army in France and was captured during the unsuccessful siege of Reims .Geoffrey does not appear in any contemporary record during 1361 to 65. By 1366&nbsp; Geoffrey was&nbsp; married too . Probably his wife was Philippa Pan. In 1370 he produced his first important poem, the book of duchess. the first on business with the Genoese 1372–73,&nbsp; From 1374 to 1386 he was a customs controller in the port of London. From 1385 he was associated with the county of Kent&nbsp; in some of his many official capacities and probably lived there until he moved to a house near Westminster Abbey in 1399.
