A teacher should help guide students in learning the subject content. A teacher must be flexible in the strategies and activities that they use because not all students are the same. A teacher must adapt to different student needs and learn to identify a student's strengths to build up their areas of weakness. A teacher must also serve as a mentor to students on how to be positive members of society.

I will be teaching students in middle school who's ages range from 11 to 14 years old.
During this stage of their lives they are experiencing many changes both physically, emotionally and mentally. Their bodies are beginning to change and they are beginning to search for their identity. Many of these students will start to form their own ideas and opinions that my clash with those of their parents. Students will become more focused on friendships and start to distance themselves from family.
Teaching them how to gracefully transition from childhood into adolescence will be challenge that I look forward to. I also look forward to helping them find their purpose and identity

Adolescents are extremely curious and are wanting to know more about the world around them. In today's society, adolescents are highly skilled in using technology for both educational and enjoyment purposes. Their way of thinking is very advanced because they are still very imaginative. They are also good at collaborating with others and sharing ideas.
I hope to implement their advanced, imaginative thinking and technology skills in the classroom to better teach students in a way they are familiar with. I also hope to implement group activities so that students are able to effectively collaborate with others.

I believe that no one student learns the same way. Every student has special way in which they understand subject content. Some learn through visuals, music, body movement and much more. Learning how to teach content in a way each person can understand is crucial. This will teachers to think outside the box and require the use of various activities and technology.

I will teach textual analysis, critical thinking, effective writing, vocabulary, and public communication. To achieve the goal of textual analysis we would conduct a shared reading and classroom discussion throughout the reading of the text. Shared reading is an interactive activity that guides a student on how to breakdown and understand a text. Students would learn to use context clues for support and participate in think-pair-share as a collaborative exercise. Think-pair-share provides students with the opportunity to share their ideas and help others who may be struggling.

My Philosophy of Education is a progressive one because I believe that school is a part of life. Learners are active participants who construct knowledge through play, direct experience and social interaction. Students should be allowed to incorporate their own learning styles and be collaborative with classmates. Students should be given some learning independence, but be guided by the teacher to ensure they don't stray too far away. It is important that educators be flexible in their learning strategies to ensure every student receives the best education possible.
