Description: Your job is to help everyone take and make space regularly. The group experience will be rich when everyone feels low barriers to engagement and we hear from lots of different perspectives. Group experience sours when any one person starts to dominate. Many times, a person who speaks more than others tends to need his/her/their awareness brought to it from another individual.

It takes relationships, “people skills,” and backbone. It requires you to practice the most important concept of this training: the ability to be firm and kind…simultaneously. How will you do it? What strategy will you choose?

We know what it is like when people do not participate. We need to find creative ways for introverted people to voice themselves and for extroverted people to listen more. For example, how do you get all voices heard?

Consider approaching this job with a sense of humor and humility. Be creative and make it your own! We need you!

When you start, let the group know how you will interrupt them if that is required. Then when it happens, it won't be so shocking.

To select this job, write your name as a comment below.

Description: Help others remember that we’ve agreed that no cell phones, internet use, or email (except those using computers to work on workshop duties) will be used in the workshop room. Cell phones can be used off screen. If folks are using laptop computers or tablets to take notes on the workshop, the agreement is: the device can only be used for note taking purposes. All other applications will remain off during the institute in order to support our work and growth together. (This is tricky for us in a Zoom setting because our professional and personal/family lives are merged during home sheltering...so we will need to amend this agreement for Zoom context. We are all on our laptops with our email just a click away. This job can be a little tricky because some folks attempt to approach it in an authoritarian way. Consider approaching this work with some humor and humility. Be creative, and have fun with it!

To select this job, write your name as a comment below.

Description: As time-keeper, your job is to watch the time and give facilitators a 15, 10, 5, and 1-minute warning when we approach a break time and the end of the day. This should be done non-verbally and without interrupting the flow of the workshop. For example, you can hold up fingers to indicate the number of minutes remaining in a section. Consider fun and innovative ways of doing this job. Have fun with your job! You will get into a rhythm/groove with the facilitators. Different activities will call for amounts of reminders.

To select this job, write your name as a comment below.
