         <description><![CDATA[<div>The college has a written appeals procedure if you are not happy with your course assessment and grading.&nbsp;</div><div><em>You have a right to appeal.</em></div><div>In most cases this can be done informally through your PDC who will address the issue with the unit assessors and teaching team to consider your work against the criteria&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; If you are unhappy about a mark or grade awarded then you should speak to your PDC in the first instance and ask for further clarification of the assessment decision.&nbsp; The tutor will provide this clarification using the assessment criteria for the assignment</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; No appeal can be made against the academic judgement of the tutor in awarding the mark or grade</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; If you believe there has been maladministration of the assessment process, resulting in an unfair assessment, you should appeal in writing to the internal verifier and the Assistant Academy Manager (AAM).&nbsp; The name of the internal verifier will be in this Course Handbook.&nbsp; Your statement must make clear the grounds for the appeal and the nature of the alleged maladministration</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The AAM will investigate the alleged maladministration and subsequently may either:</div><div>-&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Dismiss your appeal; or</div><div>-&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Uphold your appeal and require your assignment to be re-submitted and/or re-assessed; or</div><div>-&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Uphold your appeal and require a new assignment to be set where it would be inappropriate to re-submit and/or re-assess the original assignment.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; If you are not satisfied with the AAM’s decision, you may appeal to the academy Assistant Principal (AP).&nbsp; The AP will investigate the circumstances of the appeal and may:</div><div>-&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; dismiss your appeal; or</div><div>-&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; uphold your appeal and require your assignment to be re-submitted and/or re-assessed; or</div><div>-&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; uphold your appeal and require a new assignment to be set where it would be inappropriate to re-submit and/or re-access the original assignment</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The AP’s decision will be final</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>If the learner is unhappy with the outcome of the college’s internal appeals procedure detailed above, s/he should follow the appeals procedure laid down by the awarding body.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
