Duffy grew up in Glasgow, Scotland before moving to Stafford once she turned 6 ("Carol Ann Duffy"). She grew up attending convent schools and from a very young age at 14 began first posting her poetry into the magazine. It is demonstrated early on in her life that she is intrigued by poetry. Ultimately her adulthood was very well-rounded with unique experiences in magazine companies.
