Hey Lennon! It's nice living by the ocean, it's very relaxing, and we can go for a swim anytime. The animals here are mainly birds and fish/sea animals, but we do also have skinks and rabbits. I also have some questions.

What would you like to be called? We are using ABQ as an abbreviation, but what would you prefer to be called? This activity is about letting the other group know the things you would like to tell us about your home state, homeland and how things are done where you live. What languages you speak, customs you might have. I have given my kids open choice in how they do this, so... who knows what you might get!

1. Did you know that middle earth is in New Zealand and it's where the lord of the rings trilogy was filmed. my three favorite movies

2. There are more sheep than people in our country. for every one person, there are ten sheep. I used to have a pet lamb called Larry

3. Guinness book of records named Baldwin street in Dunedin at the bottom of the South Island the steepest street in the world. I lived there for one year and my mum drove me up that street when I was 1. sadly I was asleep.

4. I live near the capital city of NZ which is Wellington. it's known as the windy Wellington because it's the windiest city in our country. luckily our national bird the Kiwi can't fly because they might get blown away

5. NZ has three official languages, English, sign language, and Te Reo I speak English but can also do sign language and speak some Maori. our country was the last in the world to have humans come to live. it was only 800 years ago when the Maori people arrived first followed by captain James Cook.

Hello! I am so excited to have both of you as my buddies, you both sound like amazing people and I can't wait until we can connect more as a class. Here are some things about me. My full name is Annika Lorraine Carlson. I was born on July 11, 2010 and am 11 years old. I am in the 6th grade and attending Eisenhower Middle School. I have two parents and 5 siblings. My dad is a tech designer and he designs apps. He is currently working on a spelling app. My mom is a technician at Sandia Labs and builds detonators. My oldest sister is named Anneliese and she is in the 10th grade. My oldest brother is named Soren and he is in the 7th grade. Then comes myself. After me is my younger brother Henrik he is in the 4th grade. Then comes my younger sister Eliana she is in the 4th grade as well. Finally there is my youngest brother and sibling who is in the 1st grade. I play two sports, the first one being track and the other being swimming. I decided to quit karate like a week ago because I have been doing it for like 7 years now and it's kinda getting boring. Also I started track recently and just when track starts karate would have started so that would not have worked even if I had wanted it too. In my free time I do a few things. I do homework, listen to music, watch shows, (usually animated) clean, sleep or draw. I have a dog whose name is Bear and my oldest sister has a dog as well and her name is Daisy. Daisy and Bear are litter mates meaning they are siblings. I really like to be active so I go to swim meets whenever I can and I go to swim practice which is usually about 1 hour and 30 min long to 2 hours long. On top of swimming I have track and field practice after school which lasts for about an hour and a half. I go biking and hiking with my family. I have actually hiked to the top of the Sandia mountains here in Abq a few times before as well. Also Idk why I'm adding this but I am so fun fact I guess about me I personally hate tight clothes. Unless it is my swim attire I will never be caught in tight clothes especially tights cus they make me feel like my legs are suffocating. My swim suit also makes my skin crawl especially when I just get out of the pool and it is all wet, and it takes forever to get off which irritates me even more. I prefer baggy and over-sized hoodies and sweatpants because they don't constrict me, make me feel uncomfortable, aren't hard to get off and they are really comfortable. I also like to listen to music all of the time because it helps me do a lot of things such as (this sounds cheesy) express my emotions to myself when I can't express them to someone else. My music preference is fast and high pitched with a muffled instrumental in the background. Also I am a Christian so I believe in Jesus. He really helps me because when I am about to do a race I tell myself I can do all things through Him who gives me strength and I usually win!. And on top of that I am a competitive person especially when it comes to beating boys. I personally think whatever a man can do a girl can do it better in one way or another. But yeah baggy stuff, working out, music, school, friends and Jesus is pretty much my life. Kinda lame when you think about it but yeah. Thanks for being my pen-pal. -Annika
