The wallpaper was a piece of propaganda during the time that Carrie Nation was trying to prohibit alcohol. The words on the bottle explain what alcohol does to the person drinking it and and what it does to a family. At the top it says words such as "crime", "destruction", weeping", and "death". In the middle it gives many numbers of money spent, drunkards, widowed women, etc... . The picture in the middle shows that alcohol plagues and kills men. The snake killing the man represents the effects of the alcohol. At the bottom it shows the numbers of each type of person who was affected by alcohol, both directly and indirectly. It includes criminals, smothered babies, murdered wives, orphaned children, murders. and more. This wallpaper would be used because Carrie Nation believes that alcohol is the root problem of America. The words on the bottle represent how she felt about alcohol

This song shows Carrie Nation's attitude towards men. Her first husband died because of alcohol which fueled her passion to prohibit alcohol. When she married again she continued breaking saloons even though her husband disagreed with her. She ignored him and continued her movement. After they divorced she was still strong and continued her movement. She never needed any men to tell her how to do things and what to do.

Lesley Gore "You Don't Own Me"

"You don't own me
I'm not just one of your many toys
You don't own me
Don't say I can't go with other boys

And don't tell me what to do
Don't tell me what to say
And please, when I go out with you
Don't put me on display 'cause

You don't own me
Don't try to change me in any way
You don't own me
Don't tie me down 'cause I'd never stay

I don't tell you what to say
I don't tell you what to do
So just let me be myself
That's all I ask of you"
