  • The Learning Pit, large display on the wall, Growth Mindset included it that. 
  • When the team talked about displays they decided that the Learning Pit and Growth Mindset was important to have up.  Mind mapped with chalk so kids could see the planning that went into it as a collective of teachers.
  • The words you see was what the children came up, they had input.
  • Children refer to it a lot, the visual representation of the Learning Pit allows children to use it as a reference and make the connection as they go through this process in real time with real support.
  • Roles plays used with children.  An example children acting out being in a Fixed Mindset to changing it to a Growth Mindset.
  • Unpacked it with the kids, this is important, as its the explicit teaching that goes on to support this learning process.
  • For kids to further understand what the Learning Pit is:  teachers sharing their experiences when they were in the Pit.  
  • Big Goal: To be a self regulated learner and set SMART goals.
  • Room 1 come to CC2 once a week, they have another version of the Learning Pit in their class and Room 1 children could relate to it.  Des is in CC1 once a week and is hearing the language it's evidence the kids are understanding it.
  • It's about giving the tools to our learners to be able to get out of the Pit.  Using drama to act out the Learner Pit.   Affirmations is another tool as it is the self talk that needs to go on to be in a growth mindset.
