The Saxons were a Germanic Tribe that originally lived in the region which today is the North Sea coast of the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark. To the south of them were the powerful Franks. This was what caused not to invade, or in a case, invade the south. The Saxons were particularly good at conquering the seas.
