Every year my family puts up a huge extravagant Christmas tree with colored lights and ornaments everywhere. It always reminds me of spending time with my family as we all gather around to put the ornaments on the tree. I love remembering the memories and all the stories each ornament holds always makes me excited for Christmas.

During Christmas time my mom put up Christmas lights every around the house inside and out. Seeing all the bright lights when I wake up puts me in a jolly mood. All the colors remind me of all the colorful colors of Christmas.

Ornaments

My family has a tradition where we buy a new ornament from hobby lobby each year. Me, my mom and my sister each get an ornament that fits our personality. Seeing all the funny new ornaments that appear makes us all happy and closer together.

Cinnamon

The smell of cinnamon always seems to be in the air around this time of the year. Mostly from the drinks and food people make it always involves cinnamon. So I started to associate that smell with Christmas time.

Sugar Cookies

My mom always tasks me with making and decorating sugar cookies for the family. So every time I even smell a hint of their delicious scent it brings me right back to making them. The scent makes me mouth water and I can't wait every time to make them.

Peppermint

Whenever it is Christmas time this house is filled with mints everywhere. Someone in the family (usually me) are sucking on mints every second of the day. Just the smell of peppermint through the house always reminds me that Christmas is around the corner.

Tamales

Every year without fail my mom makes the best tamales that everyone loves. She spends days on end perfecting the recipe and cooking them to perfection. I always help her make them and sneak a few bites in during the process (don't tell her lol).

Every year without fail I make sure to make my mom buy me a chocolate advent calendar. I don't know what they put in those small square of chocolate but they are so good. I can't wait each year to be able to eat those chocolates again.

Pozole

My mom has my grandma's infamous Pozole recipe that she used to make every Christmas. Eating pozole every Christmas became a tradition for my family. It always makes me all warm inside and reminds me of my grandma she was the most Christmassy person you could ever know.

Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer

When I was little my family had Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer on CD. Which was a sing along movie of different Christmas songs. Rudolph stood out the most to me because I felt could relate to him a lot. Since I was always alone and no one wanted to be my friend until they saw how nice I was. So I memorized that song and it is now a Christmas comfort song.

Fireplace

For the past few years my dad has put on a video of a fireplace when we open presents. Ever since the I know that when I hear the noise of the fire crackling then its time to open presents. It always gets me excited to see the pile of presents and every one all huddled around in the living room.

Ever since I was young I loved the sound of tearing wrapping paper. Its like music to my ears I always wanted to open everyones gifts because they never did it right. The main thing that keeps me waiting and excited for Christmas.

cold weather

Ive always loved when it got cold cause I knew that it meant that Christmas was right around the corner. I also love being able to snuggle up in my hoodie and blankets without getting over heated. Being all nice and warm and snuggly always puts me in a productive and happy mood for Christmas.

Needles on a Christmas tree

Every year since I was able to stand on my own I have helped my mom put up our Christmas tree. I personally like decorating the tree but never putting it up since its like huge. But one fond memory I get every time is the feeling of getting scratched by the needles of the tree. Every time without fail I would end up with scratches all over my arms and hands. But it was always worth it to see how beautiful the tree came out.

Hot coco

Another tradition in my family is drink as much hot coco during December as we can. We believe that drinking hot coco warms the body and the soul. It clears the bad energy from your body and fills you with lots of joy. So I always love the feeling of the hot chocolate going down my throat and traveling through my whole body it never fails to make me happy.
