  • During my High School years in Brazil, I founded a practical apophasis social-sustainable research project, based on three aims, and divided into two stages. 

    Aims: Firstly, highlight the vulnerabilities of the Sardines' Port, a marginalized fishing community in Bahia. Secondly, support them through a scheme of reusing their over 1 ton of sardine leftovers wasted into the environment daily, and thirdly, achieve socio-economic growth for their residents (better explained below).

    Stage 1: Our team and I authored an article highlighting residents' social challenges, providing a comprehensive analysis and comparison. Through this article, we become a finalist at the FEBRACE 2023 (200 out of 6,000 projects.

    Stage 2: We utilized the chemical silage technique to convert leftover sardines into protein powder for pet food. This involved collaborating with the so called SENAI, one of the leading educational institutions in the Southern Hemisphere, as appointed by the UN on 2014. I went through SENAI's biochemistry labs to expand the method's scale and establish strategic partnerships with pertinent pet food companies. Furthermore, with a commitment to community welfare and socio-economic policies, my teammates, and I have been collaborating with the SENAI on evaluating the potential of utilizing profits generated from the future feed articles to significantly enhance socio-economic growth for the residents.

    The initiative has notably benefited 30,000 residents. I secured $600 in fellowships from federal and private sources, forming partnerships with the local fishing cooperative, SESI, SENAI, and FIEB. Additionally, the initiative has received $8,000+ in investment from SESI and the Brazilian Industry Federation and gained coverage in 15 newspapers, including the leading one in the north/northeast of Brazil.

    We were honored as one of Brazil's top 30 inspiring youth ideas from the National Council of the Brazilian Industry in 2022-23. I was invited to participate in a State National University of Bahia webinar, focused on enhancing the achievements of underrepresented students in youth research throughout Brazil. Furthermore, we went through project presentations at research seminars hosted by respected institutions such as the Federal University of Bahia, the Catholic University of Bahia, and the University of Sao Paulo.
