1. Somebody will always want more. Know how to say “No.” Know who can say “No.” Learn to combine “No” with an alternative suggestion or a choice. E.g., “Okay, but if we add that, we’ll need to cut this.” 2. Gilliam’s reputation from The Adventures of Baron Munchausen – people never forget. People want to typecast you. Gossip will follow you (The film was a box office bomb, grossing just $8 million against its $46 million budget and losing the studio $38 million.) And a critical failure. 3. Communication and centralization – actors and departments scattered all over. Despite wired world, people still want to work face to face. There is a synergy in group work.

Language issues at meetings! Some people could not speak English and this was the primary language of the meetings

When they wanted to do a costume fitting for the main actress and tried to get her to fly down for it, her manager constantly said no because she was busy, and they couldn't do anything about it because there was no contract signed so she had no obligation to come down

Terry already had a reputation with going over budget and one of his films being a disaster so the producers should’ve taken that more into account considering it was the highest budget on a European film at that time

The AD said that the shooting schedule has no room for error with the time and budget for the film. This isn’t the best way to go into production because something will always go wrong

There was a lack of communication. The director and AD were not aware that the extras weren’t at rehearsal until they started shooting and realized nobody knew what they were doing. That took time out of shooting.
