         <description><![CDATA[<div>The French Revolution begins which sparked the Haitian Revolution and influenced them with ideas and concepts. It brought new citizenship, human rights, and government ideas. When the French Revolution commenced in 1789 there were five sets of group in the colony. There was white planters, slaves, petit blancs, mulattos, and "free blacks."</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There was three groups of African descent in Haiti. The ones who were free, the ones who were slaves, and the ones that ran away. There was 30,000 free black people and half of them were mulattos. There was a history of rebellions in the country and it was 10 to 1.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1792 a third of the island would be under the slaves control.  The French had called in extra forces to come and help them  but as the rebellion had grown, the French were unable to stop them. When the fight was over, 24,000 out of 40,000 white people and 100,000 out of 500,000 black people were killed.</div>]]></description>
