It’s created by things like streetlights, headlights, and advertising billboards, and it has a number of negative effects on the environment. The most obvious effect is the disruption of day and night. For humans, this can lead to fatigue and sleep problems but for animals, it can decrease their whole population. This happens because of predators that hunt at night or preys that need to hide to survive, but can't anymore because of artificial light. We are disrupting the natural cycle, completely affecting biodiversity and animal growth.

We need to save our wild places. We can't survive without them.

We're wiping out earth way faster than what the natural extinction rate can handle. Only 4% of land is given to the wild and more than 90% is being used for livestock and humans. Also, a huge part of the fish in oceans, like tuna or cod have basically disappeared. This is important, since, "the oxygen we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat - they all depend on other forms of life. Without the rest of species on the planet, there would be no prosperity, no economy, no us." We have completely destroyed other habitats or ecosystems. A quote by a known scientist E.O. Wilson says, "nature is our greatest friend and ally, not our foe." The lack of ecosystems is a true global issue since every single human being depends on oxygen, water, crops/meat to survive.
