1. How and why did my family come to the U.S.?

My family originated in Poland many many many years ago. They lived in Poland too far back for me to even trace why they left but I do know that they moved in the early 1900 (around 1930). This is from my grandma Pat's side of the family. I have no way of knowing how they got here but I assume it was on a boat. I do know that they came to the U.S. to be able to better support their children. They wanted the "American Dream".

2. What were the obstacles my family met?

Since I don't know close to anything about my family coming to the U.S., I don't know the struggles that they faced. After doing research, I saw that the great depression was worsening during the 1930's. The Jews were starting to be tortured and treated harshly during this time which is probably why my family left.

3. What was going on historically in the U.S. during this time and how did it affect my family?

Like I said in the 2nd question, the times in Poland were bad and the great depression was getting worse and worse. WWII was forming during this time as well but my family still persevered and moved to Louisiana. They moved to Louisiana because that was one of the places where they felt it was better for their family and health. In 1940, they moved to California (Escondido) and then my grandma was born 1 year later!
