Unforgettable Jam Session

I rarely bumped into Doc. Francis at school, but had the honor of being one of his students in his Understanding the Self class back in the first semester of 2019. To my classmates and I we never knew what to expect. There was definitely a lot of laughter shared in his room. One of the biggest highlights of his class was when he showed us his own songs. I know how personal music can be yet you shared several with us. The way his eyes lit up and how he jammed out to his own song was something my classmates and I would never forget. We still have videos of that moment to which we still fondly look back on today. I wish I had taken you up on your offer of writing my own song about my life back then and joining your music club. Knowing how important music was to you, maybe we can finally jam out when we see each other again. May you rest easy in grace and love, Doc Francis.

Doc Francis is one of those professors who truly cares for his students. He makes time to ask how you’re doing when he sees you around campus. If he sees talent or potential in you, he’ll definitely encourage you and push you to improve and love what you’re doing. Thank you Doc, for caring more than others, for the life lessons, for the music, and many more. Fly high!

A vision board is a collage of images and words representing a person's goals intended to serve as inspiration and motivation in life. We had this activity in our first week of Psychology class, where we had to cut images and words from random newspapers, magazines and paste it on our own illustration boards. He asked ask all to be as creative as we can and to share it to the whole class. Then, we also had a required 7 sessions throughout the semester with him for consultations about it.

For many of us, we know our sessions were not only just talking about our vision boards but also of him motivating us that there is more to life than just studying in school. Personally for me, when I opened up to him about my passion for music and arts, he never stopped in pushing me to never abandon it. He helped me to gain connections that lead to a career I never thought I would have during my college years.

So if I were to describe throughout the years of knowing him, he was not only a professor who never stops in sharing his knowledge to his students but also a person who generously guided us to achieving the life that we aspire.

Today, I am very happy and proud to share that many of us are working and if not have already achieved those dreams in our thoughts from Doc’s wisdom, encouragement and unending support even after we left school.

To Doc Francis .. Thank you for I am humbled and honoured to have been under your guidance throughout the years. Thank you for your gift of knowledge, wisdom, music, leadership and support. May your memories be always shared and celebrated. You will be cherished and forever in our hearts. Maraming Salamat Doc. I will miss you. God bless your soul and May your Rest in Peace.
