Pathos is used by making you sympathize with the dog and how close the dog is with the girl, and in the end makes a clear connection of the dog and the car, implying the car will always be there for you and is something you can count on, just as the dog was to the girl. 

“I’m not sitting here alone, with or without the gun.”
This is about a man helping a women who someone wants dead by breaking into the “killer’s” house. They are arguing in the car because the lady had a gun without a permit and he doesn’t want her going in the house with him. The lady is persuading the man to let her go with him because she has a gun in case the killer is home.

Ross uses ethos because he’s a scientist that works with prehistoric ages.He also uses logos when he mentions the finding of fossils all over the country.  

He gives the example of opposable thumbs and the use of them on a toys and making them move. An example using ethos when ross is a scientist is very effective because you can trust him and he gives an example everyone can relate to.
