The story since the beginning was what the resume on the website said, it was a very hard book which included a lot of physiological horror, but more than horror it included suspense. 
We can start by saying that the main problem in the book can come from different bases. We can detect many problems on it, for example: The relationship Bruno had with his father, the way Guy didn't want to be married anymore with Miriam, etc. But the main problem here is the ALCOHOLISM that Bruno had as a resource to escape from his reality, to unenrolled himself from many things he was disgusted with, that was his refugee, always drinking alcohol was what made him think that killing Mirian was a very good idea and for the same reason he died at the end. Alcoholism represents a huge problem nowadays in our culture, is a problem we can find even from cities around Bogotá as in the same capitol. 
But Bruno had some convince power and he new, was not the normal convince way, he used frightening in order to manipulate the emotions of the people he was closed to, he learnt the way he need to act in front of everyone just for them to believe him or do what they wanted. 
The relationship that Guy had with Anne was also such a good form to show another problem we suffer in any kind of relation, even if it is with friends or a lover o family, etc; people is always lying and someday, somehow, everybody is going to find out about the real information.
